Tabah Foundation hosted three highly respected and influential Islamic scholars from the West

As part of its regular intellectual activities, Tabah Foundation recently hosted three highly respected and influential Islamic scholars from the West: Imam Zaid Shakir, Dr. Umar Faruq Abd-Allah and Sheikh Hamza Yusuf. They conducted lectures and seminars at Tabah Intellectual Tent which were attended by prominent figures and leading personalities, followed by lectures at public places such as Sheikh Zayed mosque and Sheikh Zayed University.


In his visit to Tabah Foundation offices in Abu Dhabi, Imam Zaid Shakir, cofounder of Zaytuna College in Berkeley, California, met with senior management and staff members and was introduced to different departments of the Foundation. Tabah also set up a program to introduce Zaytuna College in the UAE and arranged a public lecture by Imam Zaid Shakir which consisted of three parts for three days at Mohammed Bin Zayed mosque entitled “Treatise for the Seekers of Guidance”.


Tabah's Intellectual Tent hosted also Dr. Umar Farouq Chairman and Scholar-in-Residence of the Nawawi Foundation, who gave two lectures in Arabic and English respectively: "Humanity philosophy in Islam and the West" and "Islam and question of modernity". Lectures were attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Abu Dhabi, Gilles Arnout Beschoor Plug and other important personalities.


Tabah organized as well a rich program for Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, cofounder of Zaytuna College in Berkeley, California, which started first with a seminar he conducted at Tabah Intellectual Tent in Arabic entitled “Traditional teaching: the ability of the past to enlighten the present”, which was attended by H.H Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ambassadors of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sudan in Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Hamza gave a Lecture after that at the Emirates College in Abu Dhabi entitled “Contemporary issues facing our cultures”, and another one at Zayed University where he shed light on “Ethics of Science”. And in a lecture at the Family Development Foundation, Sheikh Hamza discussed the Father's and Mother's roles in the family as well as traits and social characteristics of the Arabic woman, and concluded his program by giving Juma'a Khutba at Sheikh Sultan Mosque.
