Tabah Foundation and Kraken Opus Media will work together on Journey to Makkah Opus, an ultimate photographic and written account that illustrates the annual pilgrimage where three million Muslims travel to the holy city of Makkah from all over the world. Journey to Makkah Opus will follow the pilgrims’ remarkable physical and spiritual journeys, and by means of the finest photography both within Makkah and beyond the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the project will shed light onto the fifth pillar of Islam and the largest annual pilgrimage in the world. Part of Tabah Foundation’s role will be the contribution of its expertise in providing definitive first-hand accounts by historical and contemporary pilgrims, alongside chapters by world-renowned Islamic scholars and academics explaining the most important rituals and aspects of Hajj. Tabah Foundation will also assist in sourcing ancient manuscripts, calligraphies and Qur’ans relating to the Hajj and Makkah. The project will also feature incredible contemporary images taken from Journey to Mecca, an IMAX dramatization and documentary of Ibn Battuta, the greatest explorer of the Old World, following his first pilgrimage from Tangier to Makkah between 1325 and 1326. |
