The Academic Steering Committee

The Tabah Research Steering Committee comprises experts and specialists in academic research and related fields. Its members convene to set the agenda for the research division for the coming year. They offer their recommendations and advice for research directions and projects that the division will undertake.

The Academic Steering Committee for Tabah Research met from 23 to 26 November 2007 in Abu Dhabi to discuss the research directions for the year 2008. The committee arrived at the following three themes for 2008 and beyond:

  1. Clarifying the aims and purposes of the Muslim community within the 21st century global community.
  2. Providing critical recommendations for the renewal of the discourse emanating from the Muslim world.
  3. Surveying the core institutions of classical Islamic civilization, their purpose, and criteria for soundness.
